catafalque

Catafalque' ın yaptığı müzik türü "Doom/Gothic Metal" olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Bununla birlikte, Catafalque' ın müziği klasik Heavy ve Doom Metal elementleri ile otantik melodi ve ezgileri içermektedir. Örnekle tanımlamak gerekirse Paradise Lost, Crematory, Moonspell gibi grupların müzikal yapısı ve The Gathering, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil gibi bayan vokal ve yoğun klavye kullanan gruplarla aynı tarzda, fakat farklı bir kültürel ,folklorik yapının sentezini oluşturmaktadır.
Günümüzün Catafalque' ı 1997 yılının kışında kuruldu. Fakat şu anki kadro ilk kadro değildir. Aslında, grup aynı isimle 1991 yılında kurulmuştur. Bugün, ilk kadrodan kalan tek eleman Gokhan Orhun Diren (Davul ) dir.
1997 yılının kışında gruba Emir Atay (Gitar) ve 1999 yılının sonbaharında ise Erman Ulus (Bas Gitar) katılmışlardır.
Daha sonra, gruba katılan Metehan Mert Çakır(Vokal) ve Kasım 1999'da gruba katılan Burcu (Soprano Bayan Vokal) ile birlikte grup, uzun yıllardır yaşadığı "vokal" sorununa kalıcı çözüm bulabilmiştir.
Ağustos 2000'de Erman Ulus' un gruptan ayrılması ile Alper Tabakçılar (Bas Gitar) gruba dahil oldu. 2001 Şubat ayında ise Emir Atay (Gitar), haklı sebeplerden dolayı gruptan ayrılmak zorunda olduğunu açıklayınca, grup yerine 2001 Mart' ında yeni bir Emir (Akaydın) buldu.
Bu arada birtakım kişisel anlaşmazlıklar yüzünden Ekim ayı sonlarında Burcu Keskin (Bayan Vokal) gruptan ayrıldı. Yerine bu görevi Özge Özkan devraldı.
Emir Akaydın' ın yoğun iş temposu nedeniyle gruptan ayrılmasıyla, Catafalque artık yeni bir gitarist almamayı kararlaştırdı ve yoluna toplam altı kişi ve tek gitar (Arın Baykurt) ile devam etme kararı aldı.
Fakat sadece konserler için -ek eleman olarak- "Soul Sacrifice" tan da tanıdığımız Feyzi Ocak gruba dahil oldu. Ve 2002 Mart'ı itibariyle grup şu anki kadrosunu oluşturdu.

Grubun tüm şarkı sözleri Gokhan Orhun Diren tarafından yazılmaktadır. Fakat son dönemde yapılmış olan yeni şarkılarda Metehan Mert Çakır ve Alper Tabakçılar' ın da yazmış olduğu sözleri bulunan grup, şarkı sözlerinde gotik romantizm, gotik öyküler, aşk, hüzün ve melankoli gibi konuları işlemektedir. Grubun tüm şarkıları kendilerine aittir.

Catafalque, 16 Ocak 2000 tarihinde Yunan Gotik Metal grubu Rotting Christ ile Kemancı'da "Depremzedeler Yararına" düzenlenen konserde sahne aldı.
Uzun süren bir aradan sonra Mayıs 2001'de "Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi Bahar Şenliği" sahne alan grup, Ekim 2001'de "Never To Be Buried" isimli EP' yi piyasaya çıkardı. Grubun dört şarkısının bulunduğu EP tanıtım amacıyla 100 adet basıldı ve kısa sürede tükendi. Bu EP' den sonra grup ismini daha fazla duyurmaya başladı.
"Köstebek Müzik" in düzenlediği , Kemancı' da Ocak 2002 tarihinde düzenlenen, Almora ve Surveillance' ın da yeraldığı konser sahne aldı.

En son olarak grup, Ankara'da düzenlenen ve 2 gün boyunca süren 5.Rockstation Festivali'nin 2.günü başarılı bir sahne performansı sergiledi.
Grup "Never To Be Buried" isimli EP' nin 2.basımını "Limited Edition" olarak ve EP'nin ilk basımına göre, içinde TRT2' de yayınlanan "Rock Market" programındaki sahne görüntülerinden oluşan , "L.O.V.E" isimli şarkılarının video' su ve grubun bir wallpaper' ını ekleyerek piyasaya sürdü. Tüm Türkiye'de 5 ayrı şehirde ve 9 ayrı noktada satışa sunulan EP, grubun internet sitesine gelen mesaj ve yorumlara göre, dinleyici tarafından olumlu tepkiler aldı.

Catafalque , bundan sonraki dönem içerisinde ilk albümünü kaydetmeyi ve piyasaya sürmeyi planlıyor. Şu an grubun kaydedilmeye hazır tam 15 şarkısı bulunmakta...

Konu ile ilgili olarak, ilk etapta Türkiye'deki firmalar daha sonra ise yurtdışı bağlantılarını kullanarak bu olayı gerçekleştirmeyi amaçlıyor.
Ayrıca grubun şu anki diğer büyük hedefi ise, Avrupa'da birçok değişik festivalde ve birçok değişik grupla sahne almak...
